NOTE: This page only contains information about the movie version of Aki Ohtori, as the manga version is too intelligent and cunning to qualify.
Akio Othori (in Japanese: 鳳 暁生, Ōtori Akio) is the main antagonist of the anime movie Adolescence of Utena.
He is the chairman of the Ohtori Academy. The abusive brother of the Rose Bride Anthy, Akio was once the beloved Rose Prince who was gained this power and role thanks to Anthy's magic. However, after the magic faded, Akio would return to his villainous role as the Lord of the Flies and continued his abuse of Anthy to maintain her magic so he could remain the Rose Prince.
In the movie, he was voiced by Mitsuhiro Oikawa in Japanese and Josh Mosby in English.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- There are implications that he was abusive to Anthy, his own sister, prior to the Events of the story as he was known as the villainous "Lord Of The Flies".
- He enables and oversees Anthy's abuse as the Rose Bride at the hands of the duelists who win her.
- On a presumably weekly basis, Akio drugged Anthy's drink so that he could r-pe her under the belief that she was unconscious.
- After realizing that Anthy was conscious during his sexual assaults, Akio completely panics and loses control which is a gloriously pathetic sight to watch.
- Is humiliated about having to ride a taxi rather than his luxury car, showing that Akio is rather elitist.
- He stabs Anthy in the chest after failing to find his own car keys which leaves her with a horrific scar.
- After stabbing Anthy, Akio pathetically fops and falls down the window to his death, becoming a ghost.
- At the end of the film, Akio tries to convince Anthy to continue her abusive life as the Rose Bride before being karmically run over by the car.
- While he seems to be charismatic through his popularity and management of the Rose Duels, Akio's charisma is shown to only be because of Anthy's magic rather than any genuine charm on his part with all composure completely dropping when losing his Car Keys and being unable to find them.
What Makes Him A Pinhead?[]
- He doesn't provide a proper dosage of the pills, allowing Anthy to remain conscious throughout his assaults.
- Fails to notice that the presence of a video camera which is recording his rape of Anthy.
- He is incredibly careless as in his panic, he clumsily falls off the building through the gates which leads to his death.
- When trying to convince Anthy to return to her abusive life as the Rose Bride, he doesn't try to sugarcoat it at all, blatantly stating that she should continue living like a corpse which of course fails to convince her.
- When Anthy drives her car, Akio fails to get out of the way, leading to his ultimate defeat.
- While he seems to be intelligent, managing to organize the Rose Duels, he never actually pulls off any actual feats of cunning or intelligence with the Duelists quickly abandoning the Academy soon after Akio's death, showing that he never had control over them.
