“ | Azar: ("Lesser Lord Kusanali has escaped from the Sanctuary of Surasthana. Go to the city and arrest the escapee immediately..." How can that be...? Stop thinking about it, stop... It must be a trick of theirs. As long as I personally confirm it...) Ah... (Nahida's cage doesn’t appear at Azar's eyes) ...Impossible. That's impossible. There must be something wrong with my eyes... (Nahida's cage starts to appear at Azar's eyes) Eh? She really appeared again... What is the meaning of this...? Cyno: What a comical sight, Azar. Once the Akasha has put certain thoughts into your head, even the Grand Sage can no longer see what's right in front of him. You all can only see the world in your mind, the one you think you know. And precisely because of this, you disregarded Lesser Lord Kusanali's existence... She has been a wise and worthy archon. |

Azar is a supporting antagonist of the 2020 action role-playing fantasy game Genshin Impact, who serves as the main antagonist of the Sumeru Archon Quest.
He is voiced by Kim Yong.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He and his fellow sages tried to trick Alhaitham into being offered knowledge of the divine, to drive him insane through a forbidden knowledge capsule, but failed in doing so.
- He created the Sabzeruz Festival samsara to extract dreams from the people of Sumeru City 168 times with the Akasha Terminal, causing them to not be able to dream properly, and psychologically tormented Nilou over her support for Lesser Lord Kusanali.
- He had Alhaitham upload the ordinance banning art and performances in Sumeru City with the excuse that they're "frivolous, meaningless activities in the land or utopia of the Greater Lord.
- After Kusanali foiled The Doctor's plans to catch the Traveler off-guard, he attempted to recapture several exiled scholars for Divine Knowledge Capsules to help Scaramouche ascend to godhood simply because Kusanali granted them powers to stop the earthquakes while inside the Sanctuary of Surasthana.
- While many of his Pathetic actions were collaborative efforts, Azar holds the most responsibility out of the Sages, and takes the most pleasure out of doing harm.
- The only thing he feels remorse over is the fact that he couldn't go on with his plans to have Scaramouche as the God of Wisdom, as Rukkhadevata was removed from existence.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He didn't even notice when Dunyarzad out of everyone involved no longer had the mental to endure the constant dream extraction, and thus wasn't able to have her dreams extracted furthermore.
- His Lotus Eater Machine plot was easily foiled when Nilou points out the extinct Padisarahs, even more so when he doesn't physically come to reprimand Nilou at the end of each cycle.
- He arrogantly believes that being Grand Sage makes him completely above the law through his admin privileges over the Akasha System.
- His plan got reduced to shambles as soon as Alhaitham exploited the main vulnerability of the Akasha System which he and his sages had overrelied on; he pretended to be insane from a Divine Knowledge Capsule he claimed randomly during his heroic breakdown, and replaced one of the capsules with one for Kusanali's escape and recapture, with Isak being able to lead all the guards out the Akademiya, to ensure the Traveler could free Kusanali himself and Cyno could catch up to Azar.
- When Cyno finally gets to chew Azar out, he starts going into a breakdown he doesn't recover, and Cyno even scolded him on how he didn't let anybody enter the Sanctuary of Suarasthana when the Akasha predicted that Azar would meet him in the Akademiya, and fittingly told him that no one could save him from being "judged" by the Archon.
