Pathetic Pinheads who initially appear to be intelligent, strategic, clever and cunning but turn out to be idiots who make several stupid mistakes that ruin their plans or even cost them their lives, whether if it shows sheer incompetence is open to interpretation. They are the opposite of Fake Inepts. This can also include charecters who have one or two smart moves (Tighten figuring out that Metro Man is Megamind in disguise).
Examples of Fake Masterminds include:
- Crimson Knolastname: His plan to make his son marry Chaz for profit proves to be flawed since Chaz was never rich and he didn't even bother to check, later his plan to blackmail Asmodeus didn't have much chance of working and he didn't even have a plan B.
- Scourge the Hedgehog: He manages to impersonate Sonic two or three times but doesn't take advantage of it to destroy the Freedom Fighters and causes great damage to Morbius, at another time he manages to transform into Super but doesn't use his power to kill the heroes at once and is then easily deceived by Sonic.
- Biff Tannen: His older self manages to deliver the sports almanac to his younger self, but he carelessly leaves a piece of cane in the DeLorean, which Marty and the Doctor discover and ruin his plan.
- Makunga: His plan only worked due to Alex's naivety and he later proves to be a useless and incompetent leader who doesn't solve the drought problem.
- J (Murder Drones): Despite all her arrogance and calling N useless, she proves herself to be an incompetent leader and a terrible fighter.
- Stella (Hellaverse): Her plan to ruin Stolas only worked thanks to Andrealphus since she almost shot herself in the foot when she hired Striker to kill Stolas, even though doing so would mean that she would not receive anything but Octavia.
- Masayoshi Shido: He is only able to perform his role as leader of the Antisocial Force and get away with his crimes for a while because of Yaldaboth, not because of his own intellect.
- Gelorum: She only manages to dominate Hot Wheels City because of her racing drones, she is not a good leader and only won the final race because of the Accelechargers and not because of race strategy.
- April Bagley: Although she managed to humiliate her friends, she ended up committing actions that led to her being linked to the case.
- Steele: His plan to sabotage the sled team led by Balta was not well thought out. He forgets that Balto is half wolf and could smell his tracks. Later, he tells other dogs that the team died and fails to consider that the team might still be alive, where his lie would be discovered.
- Kent Mansley: His plan to reveal the Giant's existence goes wrong and when he orders the missile to be launched, he forgets that the giant is in the same place as him.
- Zé Pequeno: He only rules crime in City of God purely by fear and not by intelligence, he also only managed it with the help of Benny who is more reasonable than him.
Note: This category is for PPs who appear to be intelligent but in reality are actually not, PPs who were never considered intelligent at some point do not count.
