~ Chaka threatening Yukio to sell her into sex slavery |
Chaka is a supporting antagonist in the anime/manga series Black Lagoon, appearing during the Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise arc. He is a sadistically violent Yakuza who wished to fight with Revy, as he was searching for a strong opponent.
He is voiced by Wataru Takagi in the Japanese version of the anime and Jonathan Holmes in the English dubbed version.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He's very sexist and homophobic.
- Even at the start of his story he's already on thin ice with the rest of the Yakuza due to his stupidity and arrogance.
- He attempts to usurp the Washimine clan, including kidnapping Yukio Washimine and trying to sell her into sex slavery. It's also implied he murders her father as part of trying to take over the Washimine clan.
- Revy is so disgusted by his actions that she refuses to duel with him.
- Repeatedly abuses Rock, including calling him homophobic slurs.
- Even as he's dying he spews death threats at Ginji, but it's meant to show how pathetic he really is.
- In the manga, when his men try to bail because of his stupid decisions getting them into such a hopeless situation, Chaka kills them.
- Unlike other villains, Chaka has no redeeming qualities or comedic moments and is taken completely seriously.
- Overall, Chaka is such a wholly disgusting and contemptible individual that nobody likes him, both in-universe and out.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He grossly overestimates himself, such as bragging to Revy that he's killed more than 10 people when Revy regularly mows down mooks for breakfast.
- Repeatedly tries to goad Revy into fighting him him despite her reputation of slaying armies all by himself without dying or even getting injured most of the time.
- His actions cause his own men to turn against him.
- A number of his men are completely inexperienced, having never fired a gun, and yet he and his men thought it was good idea to provoke Ginji into a battle with them, leading to many of them getting killed.
- His actions lead to the downfall of the Washimine and the Kousa clans.
- Even if Chaka became the new head of the Washimine Clan (or at the very least survived the battle at the bowling alley), he likely wouldn't have lived long either way, as he would have easily been wiped out by Hotel Moscow as they already considered the Washimine Group to be an enemy that is to be purged.
