Chancellor Ferdinand, also known as the Chancellor, is the overarching antagonist of the 2009 science fiction dark fantasy animated horror film 9.

He was the ruler of an unnamed Nation and the leader of its ruling military party who was responsible for the corruption of the B.R.A.I.N. which later came to be known as the Fabrication Machine and by extension, the destruction of humanity and seemingly all other life on Earth as a whole, he is also the Scientist’s arch-enemy.

He was voiced by Tom Kane.

What Makes Him Pathetic?[]

  • He forcefully took the Fabrication Machine away from the Scientist in order to selfishly use the machine to create the Steel War Behemoths and take over various countries.
  • He is ultimately the reason for why the Fabrication Machine became genocidal, as he constantly overworked and abused the machine and slowly deteriorated their mental health, as all of the overworking that Chancellor Ferdinand put the Fabrication Machine through made them overwhelmed by stress and madness. Additionally, he showed little to no care for when the Fabrication Machine injured a worker and killed two others who attempted to save said worker.
  • When the Fabrication Machine reprogrammed the Steel War Behemoths to turn against humans, instead of taking any accountability for being the sole cause for the machine becoming genocidal he instead waged war on the Fabrication Machine in order to not spoil his reputation from the general public.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • He was completely ignorant of the Scientist telling him that the Fabrication Machine had severe moral agency issues and the fact that it could become easily corrupted under someone with bad influence, instead he forcefully stole the machine and constantly overworked it with no care about the consequences.
  • Even outside of his terrible treatment of the Fabrication Machine, the many upgrades and resources that he gave the machine in the first place ultimately made it even easier for the Fabrication Machine to cause great harm to others and ultimately leading to the machine to commit genocide on humanity (as it was not only physically powerful, but the Fabrication Machine had access to numerous Steel War Behemoths which were able to use bio-weapons to kill other humans).
  • Overall, he could have very easily prevented the Fabrication Machine from becoming genocidal by not constantly overworking and abusing them and actually treating them with respect. However, his massive ignorance and power hungry nature ultimately lead to his downfall, with him showing no remorse or taking any accountability for his actions.
