Dean Holbrook is a minor antagonist of Season 3 of the Netflix original TV series 13 Reasons Why. He is a wealthy student, football player and bully at Hillcrest High School.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He is a clear misogynist who believes women at Claremont Prep are "locked in" and "good girls always ready to party" for him and all of his friends.
- He gloats that he’s in an arranged relationship with another girl set up by his family, which he enjoys even though his girlfriend doesn't, feeling trapped in the relationship and bragging that it isn't his problem. It is implied he isn't even loyal to her either way.
- He bullies and outcasts Bryce Walker for being a rapist. This is hypocritical since he is no better given his later actions and likely only does it to make himself look better.
- He cowardly has his cronies bully Bryce such as pushing him down the stairs, and refusing to fight Bryce directly.
- It is made clear he is only popular at school because of his wealth rather than any charisma.
- He molests Jessica at the Homecoming game, interrupting her protest by grabbing her tits just because he wanted to mock her.
- He is a Hate Sink whose entire purpose is to be the worse of the two compared to Bryce Walker and make him sympathetic in comparison, despite Bryce having done much worse than Dean.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- By grabbing Jessica's tits in public, he causes a chain of events that work against him as he is beaten up, ruin the game by causing a massive fight, likely losing any potential scholarships and getting his entire team in trouble for his stupid action.
- Despite bullying Bryce for being a rapist, he himself does the same thing to Jessica in front of all of his peers, showing himself off as a hypocrite and likely ruining his reputation.
