~ Garrett Bobby Ferguson |
Garrett Bobby Ferguson, Sr. (G.B.F) is a major antagonist of the animated series Regular Show, serving as the main antagonist of the episode "High Score" and the overarching antagonist of the episode "Exit 9B".
He was voiced by Sam Marin.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
High Score[]
- When he sees that Mordecai and Rigby were actually about to beat his record, He makes up a sob story in a desperate attempt to get the duo to not beat his record. At first, the duo is not convinced with Mordecai even asking G.B.F why was he crying, Rigby refuses to give up but was forced to do so by Mordecai who only failed because he and the crowd felt pity for him.
- Although it would make him seem like a manipulator, this is the only time on-screen where he would lie in order to prevent the heroes from achieving his goal, with his method being a fake sob story that consists of him "devoting his life to the game to the point where his wife left him". This doesn't make him seem like a master manipulator but rather someone who is pathetic and extremely desperate.
- He reveals that not only did he not devote his life to Broken Bonez but he only sees it as a hobby, he also reveals that he doesn't have a wife or any real love outside of his son.
- When Rigby rightfully calls him out for cheating, G.B.F responds with that there's no rules, earning him the boos of the crowd, who has turn against him, G.B.F arrogantly yells at the audience to boo themselves because he's G.B.F. Which just shows how egotistical he is.
- His death is played for satisfaction as he explodes in goo and his reputation gets tarnished.
Exit 9B[]
- He returns (thanks to his son, G.B.F. Jr) so he didn’t even return by using his knowledge he just returned with the help of someone much smarter than him. He came back with the intention of leading the other villains in destroying everything that Mordecai, Rigby and the other park workers ever loved, despite the fact that neither of the park workers, except for Rigby and Mordecai played a part in his record being broken and causing his death.
- He wasn’t even the one who unleashed the villains against Mordecai and Rigby it was his son that did most of the actual work. He didn't even help the villains fight off the heroes, even when his son got coffee thrown at him by Thomas.
- Before he dies a second time, he tells his son (Who is arguably more competent than him) that he has received the universe record of disappointing his father showing that he has high expectations of his son, even though his son didn’t really do anything to disappoint him.
What Makes Him A Pinhead?[]
- Even if his manipulation of putting a sob story did work on Mordecai and Rigby, he still stupidly revealed his con before actually winning the game while calling them the dumb ones, which allowed Mordecai and Rigby to beat his high score as they learned that his sob story was faked.
- Even though he was the universe record holder of the game “Broken Bonez”, his skill as a player isn’t really that good, which honestly makes you wonder how he even got the universe record in the first place. He fails to realize that Mordecai and Rigby still have one more life, allowing them to continue playing. He's also a terrible fighter as he just spams the two around and fails to beat Mordecai and Rigby, so he’s not really as skilled as he is made out to be.
- He attempts to physically attack Mordecai and Rigby to prevent them from beating his universe record, to no success, resulting in him getting bitten in the leg and kicked in the chin and the duo still managing to beat his high score, causing him to explode. Also, even if he did prevent them from beating his record by assaulting them, it would’ve still gained him nothing as the public would’ve seen him as a cheater and his glory and fame would be lost because he cheated.
Trivia[]
- So far, he along with Matchmaker McIntyre are the only Regular Show characters to be approved as a Pathetic Pinhead.
- G.B.F is a parody of the infamous and disgraced video-game high score champion Billy Mitchell, who formerly held the record for playing the first ever perfect game of Pac-Man, before his records would come under scrutiny after it was discovered that he was cheating.
- Funny enough, Mitchell actually sued Cartoon Network for using his likeness without his permission, but the case was thrown out of court due to the court concluding that Cartoon Network did not violate Mitchell's personality rights since G.B.F is depicted as a floating head that exploded, making it a clear parody that could not completely imitate Mitchell's likeness.
