| ~ Gennon orders his army to capture Griffith alive in spite of the consequences. |
Gennon is a major antagonist in the Golden Age Arc of Berserk. A high-ranking noble in Tudor, he is a powerful and influential governor of Doldrey who fought the Band of the Hawk and is an infamous pederast who obsesses over young pre-teen boys.
He was voiced by the late Shoji Oki in the Japanese version of the 1997 anime adaptation, and by Kazuki Yao in the Japanese version of the Golden Age Arc II movie, and Steve Kramer in the English dub.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He employed many young boys from neighboring villages as attendants in his castle, but he imprisons them so he can rape them over and over again, leaving the children so traumatized that their eyes are vacant of all but fear due to what they have gone through. Even Casca is disgusted by his actions.
- He then has Griffith sell his body to him and develops a creepily lustful obsession with him. Upon becoming the governor of Tudor, he has the White Tiger Knights obliterated to keep a fortress for himself and demands his soldiers to capture Griffith and bring him to him.
- He eventually gets many of his own troops killed by leading them outside, giving the Band of the Hawk the chance to dominate the now-empty city, and he shows no remorse over their deaths. He is finally killed by Griffith, who reveals that he doesn't actually have the same mutual feelings for him, and he's played for no sympathy in his last moments.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He is too perverted to realise that Griffith doesn't actually have romantic feelings for him and consistently insists on reliving the sexual intercourse they had one time when Griffith sold his body to him for money, even when the latter shows no mutual affection for him.
- He has his soldiers leave the fortress and track down Griffith to capture him, even though this would easily violate the discipline of his army. This allows the Band of the Hawk to take over the city when it is almost empty, which causes the deaths of many of his soldiers, showing just how much of an incompetent leader he is.
- He makes poor attempts to stop his men from fleeing after his general Boscogn is killed and the fortress is dominated by Band of the Hawk.
- He causes his own well-deserved death by throwing a tantrum after learning Griffith doesn't love him and it's implied he either spread rumors about Griffith or at least planned to do that, leading to Griffith killing him by stabbing into his eye.
Trivia[]
- He, Wyald and Adon Cobortwitz are the three Berserk characters to be approved as Pathetic Pinheads. Coincidentally, all of them are also Hate Sinks.
