Herman Von Straub is a secondary antagonist of the science fantasy franchise Warhammer 40k. The inept governor of the planet of Armageddon, his incompetence combined with narcissism nearly caused the planet to fall against an Ork WAAAGH! during the Second War for Armageddon. Sentenced to house arrest for his crimes, Von Straub would escape and return during the Third War for Armageddon, allying with the Orks and rallying nobles to begin a rebellion, before being finally put down by the 13th Penal Legion.
What makes Him Pathetic?[]
- Rose to power by murdering his father and siblings.
- Constantly used fear to control his subjects.
- Banished Commissar Yarrick for merely questioning his orders out of arrogance thinking his Planetary Defense Forces could take down the Orks.
- Cowardly retreated to his lavish bunker while the civilian population of a city would put in a fierce fight against the Orks.
- During the Third War for Armageddon, he appears leading a group of Orks, betraying the Imperium and claiming it was his divine right to rule the planet.
What makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- Ignored all the warnings about an impeding Ork WAAAGH!. It was only because of Yarrick's intervention that a distress warning even happened.
- Ordered piecemeal attacks against Orks, a ferocious race that lived for battles and did not fear anything.
- He also actually thought Orks would be in reserve and not attack.
- Ordered his Titans to attack the Orks in spite of Mannheim's warnings that they should wait, causing the Titans, whose production is expensive and takes decades to hundreds of years, to be overrun and Mannheim's death.
- This is made even worse with Mannheim saying goodbye to his family before it and for nothing since the Orks would keep advancing.
- Deployed through lost bombs the Life-Eater virus, a weapon that potentially eradicates all life on a planet, on the world he is on and supposed to defend. If the bombs were not mostly defective due to poor maintenance, he would wipe out everyone in Armageddon.
- Actually, said he had everything in control to a group of Space Marines in spite of his forces being completely decimated before their commander would take the control of all Imperial forces on the planet and order Straub's arrest.
- When the Orks lose again, he tries to flee before getting finally killed.
