Listen to me. The reason my shows get the ratings is because I do stories the other networks won't touch!
~ Hitoshi Demegawa

Hitoshi Demegawa is a supporting antagonist in the manga/anime series Death Note. He is a greedy news anchor at Sakura TV, who tries to exploit the Kira case for publicity, and ended up becoming Kira's spokesman.

He was voiced by Chafurin in Japanese, and by Ward Perry and Louis Chirillo in English. In the film adaptation, he was portrayed by Magy.

What Makes Him Pathetic?[]

  • He is a scummy businessman who is willing to make false stories and airing tapes of innocents getting killed just to boost the ratings and profit from it.
  • He only helped the police and Kira task force to catch Higuchi in order to get ratings and money from their orders.
  • He created a TV program called "Kira's Kingdom" to use the money of the Kira supporters to boost his fame and scam them out of their money, which even Light found disgusting and ultimately sends Mikami to kill him.
  • His death is well-deserved, as no one on the Kira task force mourned his death.
  • Unlike other villains, Demegawa barely has any likeable qualities and is just a selfish reporter who will do anything for fame and money.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • He ignored all the warnings from police to stop airing Kira-related content, which ended up getting a gun pointed at his head by Soichiro.
  • He priotizes his greed over the care for others.
