“ | Isaiah: Mom… you're emotional, and I'm emotional. We are not ourselves. Joan: Stop it. Isaiah: YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO SAY! Joan: I know exactly what I am trying to say! Isaiah: Well, I don't! But I think it's pretty ugly what you seem to be saying, and I think you would agree if you could hear yourself. |

~ Isaiah denying any wrongdoing as Joan questions when the abuse started, which is quickly followed up by him attempting to kill her. |
Isaiah Johnson is the main antagonist of the 2011 film The Strange Thing About The Johnsons. He is the son of Sidney Johnson who has been sexually abusing him for a decade and is the reason why Sidney's death happened due to manipulating and gaslighting him into being held accountable for his trauma.
He was portrayed by Brandon Greenhouse.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He has been raping his own dad ever since he was 12 years old, and the sexual abuse continues even in adulthood.
- He has a wife who he doesn't respect or even pay attention to, given he prefers to lay his eyes on his father in a creepily disgusting manner and makes up an excuse to stay behind by deliberately breaking a glass of water so he can keep molesting Sidney for his own sick pleasure.
- Upon discovering Sidney's memoir, Isaiah gaslights and manipulates him into being at fault for the abuse by blaming him for his trauma, which causes Sidney to run out of the house to escape from his son only to get hit by a white van.
- When his mother Joan goes to talk to him about what he did to his father, Isaiah replies by saying he loved him more than she ever did. This causes a fight to break out, which nearly results in Isaiah killing his mother by shoving her headfirst into a fireplace, only for her to grab a fire poker and bludgeon him to death, putting an end to the deranged man's life for good.
- While he cares for Sidney in a very twisted but ultimately genuine way as he cried when his father died in front of him and wore his sweater in honor of him, he still takes sick pleasure in raping him.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- While he seems to be successful in his sexual abuse, he only got away with his crimes due to sheer luck rather than any intelligence or competence. It must also be pointed out that Sidney went along with the abuse only due to fear rather than being charmed by Isaiah, considering that the latter has no charisma at all, with his faux affability being very superficial and paper-thin.
- At the public wedding reception, he unbuttoned his father and had sex with him while his mother watched via peeking through a fence hole, making it easy for her to catch him red-handed.
- He gives people realistic chances to snitch on him, as he broke into the bathroom and raped his father just for not opening the door, which led to Sidney screaming as he was being raped by his son while Joan overheard the situation in another room, giving her a legitimate opportunity to call the police.
- He knew his father was going to release incriminatory evidence of his sexual abuse, yet he kept being needlessly cold, cruel and ruthless towards him, which only further motivated Sidney's intent to stop his son.
- He caused Sidney to get run over by a van while Joan was aware of what was going on, meaning he could have been arrested for being complicit in a vehicular manslaughter. While it's true that getting Sidney killed was an accident, it was a mistake that caused someone's death, making it stupidly evil.
- In his last moments, he pathetically attempts to kill his mother like a coward to cover up his crimes and prevent her from punishing him, and rather than impaling her with a fire poker, he intended to shove her into a burning fireplace, which he was not quick enough to do as it results in Joan being plausibly able to pick up one of the fire pokers and kill Isaiah, meaning he caused his own death.
