Stay away from her, okay, I mean it! You can't touch anything without destroying it! Who the hell do you think you are hanging around here, huh? Get the hell outta here! Get the hell out! Go away, freak!
~ Jim threatening Edward.

Jim is the main antagonist of Edward Scissorhands. He is a obnoxious and selfish assh*le who is hostile to the protagonist and also Kim's initial love interest. After she sees his true colors, she breaks up with him, and he becomes even more vengeful and jealous, pursuing Edward with murderous intentions.

He was portrayed by Anthony Michael Hall.

What Makes Him Pathetic?[]

  • He laughs and mocks when he sees Edward being electrocuted on television.
  • He wanted to use Edward's abilities to break into his parents' house and steal their money.
  • When this fails, he abandons Edward to jail, despite Kim's protests.
  • When Edward accidentally cuts Kim's hand, he blames him and accuses him of doing it intentionally, and he kicks him out of the Boggs house.
  • After Kim breaks up with him, he starts drinking and foolishly tries to drive, which almost causes the death of Kim's younger brother.
  • He uses the accident to frame Edward and make him look like a monster to others, also capitalizing on Edward's bad reputation at the time.
  • He goes so far as to chase Edward to his hilltop mansion and try to kill him.
  • He assaults Kim when she tries to stop him from attacking Edward. -When he messes up, Edward kills him in self-defense, and his death isn't portrayed sympathetically.
  • Despite supposedly having a horrible father, this isn't explored in depth and doesn't make him sympathetic.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • He's not very good at hiding his evil or how much of a jerk he is, an example of which is that he blatantly laughs at Edward.
  • He takes Edward to commit the robbery even though Edward was naive and unprepared. He didn't even have a plan B in case something went wrong, just abandoning Edward out of cowardice, not intelligence.
  • He acts hostile toward Edward in front of Kim, which makes her realize who he really is and break up with him. Besides, he accuses Edward of intentionally hurting Kim when it was clearly an accident, showing how short-sighted he is.
  • After the breakup, Jim and his friend start drinking, and he orders his friend to drive the van, which is a bad idea for obvious reasons. His action almost causes him to run over Kim's brother. He only manages to frame Edward for his stupid action due to Edward's negative reputation.
  • He relentlessly bullies Edward despite the fact that Ed possesses scissorhands that could easily pierce him. He only manages to overpower Edward initially because Ed has no fighting experience. When Ed loses his temper, Ed simply uses one hand to easily stab him in the stomach, with Jim not even being prepared for it. Besides, it's likely that Edward didn't pierce Jim before because he bullied him in public places. When he's not in a public place, Ed decides to put an end to him.
