King Midas is the main protagonist of the Disney short The Golden Touch.

He was voiced by the late Billy Bletcher.

What Makes Him Pathetic?[]

  • He obsesses over gold nonstop to the point of demanding the ability to turn things to gold, showing just how greedy he is.
  • Upon gaining the golden touch from Goldie, he has his own cat serve as the first thing he turns to gold.
  • He gives his entire kingdom over to Goldie in order to have his curse removed for a plain hamburger.
  • Unlike Midas in Greek Mythology, who displays sympathetic traits, this version shows to not care for anybody but himself.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • He ignores Goldie's warnings of the Golden touch being a curse, demanding Goldie to curse him.
  • He opts to testing the power on a living thing rather than try it on something that doesn't move.
  • He gives up everything for a curse he had put upon himself.
