Lydia Rodarte-Quayle is a major antagonist in Breaking Bad and a supporting character in Better Call Saul. She is a worker at Madrigal Electromotive GmbH who assists Gus Fring in his drug trafficking operation. When Gus dies, she helps Walt and Jack (as well as the latter's Neo-Nazi gang) in their criminal activities.
She was portrayed by Laura Fraser.
What Makes Her Pathetic?[]
- She assisted Gus Fring and Peter Schuler in their meth business to make sure their superlab expands widely.
- In Better Call Saul, she aided Mike in a money laundering scheme at the local bank and allowed Gus to buy the laundry which he would use as his future superlab.
- Come Breaking Bad, she gets progressively worse. She tried to get Mike to kill 10 prisoners to "tie up loose ends", but when he refused, she paid Chris Mara to kill not only the inmates, but also Mike.
- After being spared by Walt, Jesse and Mike, she had them rob a train full of methylamine, which makes her indirectly responsible for Todd killing a child named Drew Sharp to avoid any potential witnesses.
- To save her own skin, she got Ron Forenall arrested. Later on, she told Walt the names of the prisoners so he and Jack Welker could kill them all, resulting in them dying brutally like being shanked and burned alive.
- She had Jack kill Declan and his group and showed no concern when Jack and his gang kidnapped and took Jesse prisoner to put him through 6 months of abuse and torture, even when Todd told her about it.
- To avoid Skyler tipping her off, she had Todd threaten her and her baby daughter Holly. When Walt returns to Albuquerque to rescue Jesse, she tells Todd to kill him...but Walt gets the last laugh by killing Lydia in the end via poisoning her with ricin, leaving the woman to panic as she slowly dies.
What Makes Her a Pinhead?[]
- She underestimates Mike on multiple occasions:
- She told him to kill several people out of sheer paranoia and added his name to her list of people she wants dead, causing Mike to break into her house and almost kill her in a fit of anger. The only reason he spared her is because he wanted her to provide meth.
- She ruined her and Mike's deal, blaming the DEA agents for planting cameras outside the meth barrel. This enrages Mike enough to display his willingness to kill Lydia again, but he was only talked out of it by Jesse.
- She insisted that Mike does not hurt her daughter, unintentionally insulting his honor in the process.
- Although she knows how dangerous Lalo is, she thought she could ask Gus to kill him in prison even though it would warrant suspicion, something that he points out when dismissing Lydia's idea.
- Even after Walt stopped his life of crime, she thought she could encourage him to return back to his old ways when he clearly didn't want to, prompting Skyler to stop her and tell her to back off.
- She had Todd threaten to kill Skyler and Holly to cover up her crimes, even though that made no sense since the former wasn't aware of the full extent of her deeds at all.
- She drank her tea (which had been poisoned with ricin by Walt) without any suspicion, which led to her slow and painful death. When Walt calls her and confesses to poisoning her tea, all she can do is panic.
