Makunga is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Nana) of DreamWorks' seventeenth full-length animated feature film Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
A pretentious and gratingly egotistical lion, he is the arch-rival of Zuba and the boss of Teetsi.
He was voiced by Alec Baldwin.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He was an enemy to Zuba since the beginning of the cartoon.
- His actions lead to Alex ending up in the Zoo. Thus he indirectly caused the events of the entire franchise.
- He forced Alex to fight with Teetsi, who is much stronger, without revealing such detail to him. As a result, he indirectly hurt Alex, causing him and Zuba to be banished out of the pride.
- He refused to accept that Zuba is more competent than him, later costing him dearly.
- Even though he has some comedic moments, it's mostly because he is a parody of Scar from The Lion King.
What Makes Him A Pinhead?[]
- While was able to manipulate Alex, it was only because Alex didn't know about local traditions or even who he was about to fight.
- He is shown to be a bad fighter for the following reasons:
- He wasn't able to defeat Zuba at the beginning, despite trying to attack him from his back.
- He was too much of a wimp to fight back against Nana (who even Alex tried to fight back against). On top of such, he didn't even predict the two releasing her to attack him.
- He was incompetent as a ruler, as he couldn't deal with the drought. He even tried to come up with ideas, one more ridiculous than the other, and (unlike Alex) did nothing to end the suffering of the pride's inhabitants.
