Matt is the main protagonist of the story In the Flesh from the book Fazbear Frights #5: Bunny Call. He was a video game developer who was developing the game Five Nights at Freddy's: Springtrap's Revenge.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He is a very selfish and egotistical jerk who belittled many people around him, including his best friend Jason and other people whom he hang out with.
- When he was married to Hannah, he shows no effort in maintaining the relationship, such as when Hannah talks about how she wants to start a new family, Matt dodges her questions rather than talking to her about it. Then he cheated on her with a server, and when Hannah wants him to go to marriage counseling, he refused.
- His relationship with said server did not last very long either, only three months.
- After his failed relationships, instead of taking responsibility or try to be better, Matt grows a negative view towards women.
- During his career as a video game developer, he decides to take his frustations out on Springtrap. For example, when the character beats him twice, he reprograms him to move at speed where one minute equites to a thousand minutes for the night, which causes Springtrap to clone himself and disappears from the game.
- When his best friend Jason sets up a double date with his girlfriend Meghan and her best friend Eva, he flirted with Meghan, thinking she was Eva only for her to correct him, much to his disappointment.
- They decided to eat at an Italian restaurant, where Matt and Meghan decided to order ossobuco while Jason and Eva ordered spaghetti. This causes Matt to view Meghan as more cultured than Jason and Eva and decide to try to steal her from Jason.
- During the dinner, Matt would try to woo Meghan by bragging about his accomplishments. When Jason and Eva went to use the bathroom, Jason tried to hit on Meghan but was angrily rejected by her. Matt then left in anger without paying or giving Eva a ride back.
- Sometime later, Matt had another date with a girl named Madison at a steak restaurant. The date was going fine until Matt’s illness caused his hunger to increase causing him to eat like a slob, in which Madison leaves in disgust.
- When he asked his co-worker Jamie about his illness and she suggested him to see a doctor, Matt turns it down due to his mistrust of doctors.
- After his boss Gary talks about how Matt's new code of Springtrap was sloppy, he yells at him for criticizing his work.
- As his hunger causes him to gain extra weight, Matt ended up losing another date named Emma at the local bar, due to talking about her weight, in which Emma calls him out for his hypocrisy.
- Out of all protagonists in the Fazbear Frights book series, Matt is the most unsympathetic and pathetic one (Except Jessica).
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He is quite dumb and childish as he is the one who programmed Springtrap to be difficult in the game, while venting his failures on the character.
- He reprogrammed Springtrap to glitch out just because he was angry to have lost two times. This is despite him being the one who made the game hard, and it shows that he’s not very competent at his job due to breaking the game he was supposed to develop.
- He is incapable of having any relationships with women, due to his laziness and jerkish attitude. He overall doesn’t understand what he’s doing wrong even when it’s very obvious.
- Instead of going to the doctors just like how his co-worker suggested, Matt decided to cut his own stomach to get Springtrap out of his body, which makes his death pathetic. While it’s possible he would have died anyway, it would have still been smarter to call a doctor, and he would have got at least a possibility of surviving.
