The Rich Man is the secondary antagonist of the 2015 thriller film Circle.
He was portrayed by Daniel Lench.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- He is a social Darwinist who believes that those who contribute to society either financially or socially are more deserving to live.
- He has a loathsome, obnoxious and repulsive personality.
- He's extremely narcissistic as he views himself above everyone else, exaggerating his importance in society while belittling others and bragging about the donations that he makes. Even mocking the one-armed man at some point by claiming that he only collects his disability checks.
- He’s also a extreme hypocrite. As he advocated to allow those with children to live longer than those who didn't. Hours later, he begins pushing for killing the pregnant woman and the kid. Despite his belief that everyone is equal and no one deserves any special privileges, he was not willing to stick to his belief when his life was on the line. This proves how hypocritical and cowardly he is.
- He was willing to kill a child by urging others to vote for her, so that he could save his own life.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He has shown extremely small skills in manipulating and charming people as he mostly only resorts to throwing a tantrum in order to gets his points across.
- He asks very stupid questions to determine whether the participant deserves to live or not, like asking "if the kid isn't a miserable brat", "whether she has good grades", "whether the pregnant woman or her husband have a job" or "if she even knows who's the father of the unborn child". Even the other participants called him out on his absurd questions.
- In a classic pinheaded move, he reveals his plans to everyone, He made the fatal mistake by shamelessly admitting that he's willing to kill the kid, the pregnant woman and eventually everyone else in the circle just to save his own skin. This is what made everyone turn against him and vote for his death.
