Rob Gronkowski, is the main antagonist of the Family Guy episode “Gronkowsbees”.
He is portrayed as a loud, obnoxious, party-obsessed neighbor who has little regard for the people around him. His main purpose seems to be embodying the stereotypical “jock” persona.
He was voiced by real life counterpart.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- Rob is very immature and has a inability to act like a responsible adult, despite being a professional athlete. He imposes his reckless lifestyle on everyone around him, oblivious to the effect it has on his neighbors. When Peter asks him to quiet down, Gronk instead responds by taunting and physically humiliating him, repeatedly whipping Peter in the crotch with a towel as a “joke.” Gronk’s behavior highlights his childish mentality; rather than addressing the issue or showing any self-awareness, he doubles down on his obnoxious actions just for laughs.
- He is very petty, this becomes apparent when Peter and his friends try to trick him into moving away by dressing Cleveland as a leprechaun. Instead of responding with even a hint of intelligence, Gronk instead immediately resorts to violence as he tears off Cleveland’s mustache and beats up Peter and his friends, delighting in their suffering showing that he is also a sadist.
- He is also a coward, even tho he is as an athlete accustomed to taking hits, Gronk demonstrates no resilience or bravery when he runs away in fear from steroid-enhanced bees. He ultimately flees Quahog, showing that despite his bluster and physical strength, he’s quick to bolt when the consequences of his actions come to him.
- Hurls a bus at the Griffin house in attempt to murder them as his form of “revenge”.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He proves himself to be the ultimate pinhead through a series of illogical, boneheaded decisions. Rather than considering how to live peacefully in a new neighborhood, he instantly establishes himself as the worst neighbor possible by throwing noisy, non-stop parties that disrupt everyone around him. His complete lack of respect for others is matched only by his inability to comprehend basic social cues; he doesn’t understand why anyone would be upset with his behavior, even as he’s whipping Peter in the crotch and destroying Cleveland’s costume and mustache.
- When Peter and his friends confront him, Gronk doesn’t attempt to diffuse the situation or even address their concerns with any sort of negotiation. Instead, he responds with a brainless display of brute force, acting as if bullying his neighbors into submission will make them like him. His bizarre thought process is further evidenced when he reacts to the bees falling on him by assuming that the honey "came from the sky," shows his complete lack of awareness.
- In a final act of dimwitted retaliation, Gronk hurls a bus through the roof of the Griffin home after being suspended from the Patriots due to the steroid-laced honey he consumed. This absurd decision shows that Gronk has absolutely no grasp of proportionate responses or long-term consequences. Not only does he ruin his own career by consuming illegal substances, but he also gets back at the Griffins in the most mindlessly destructive way possible. As if it was going to make his situation any better, It actually makes his situation worse, since now the patriots are now going to be way less keen in bringing him back on the team.
