Sensei O'Sullivan: Now, am I going to get any trouble from YOU!?
Edith: Yeah, probably.
Sensei O'Sullivan: EXCUSE ME?! (cracks his own neck) If you think I'm above fighting children, you picked the wrong dojo!
~ Sensei O'Sullivan to Edith after she talked back to him, even threatening to hurt her.

Sensei O'Sullivan is a minor antagonist in Despicable Me 4, the sixth installment in the Despicable Me franchise.

He is the abusive teacher of the karate class that Edith and Agnes Gru have attended while going undercover in Mayflower.

He is voiced by Brad Ableson.

What Makes Him Pathetic?[]

  • He is shown to be an extremely sadistic teacher who has no qualms about bullying, insulting, and hurting the kids in his care, which scares the kids into obedience instead of making them learn in his class and makes him devoid of any redeeming qualities.
  • He likes to bully his students in order to feed his own ego and sense of superiority, even demanding that they show respect to him. During the first few minutes of his screentime, he berates a kid named Moscovitch by saying he looks like a "sheepdog" after seeing that Moscovitch didn't get a haircut.
  • He ruthlessly yells at Agnes (who is only a six-year-old girl) for being unable to say her undercover name and gives her 10 push-ups after class, and when she still cannot say her name he tells her to go sit in the time-out chair.
  • When he faces Edith for talking back, he admits that he's not afraid to fight children and prepares to actually fight her before she breaks his pinky toe in response.
  • Although he does have a few comedic moments, especially when he interacts with Edith, he is not that enjoyable compared to other characters in the movie like Gru Jr. and Maxime Le Mal. In fact, his harsh treatment towards his students, especially Agnes, just makes him more hateable.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • When he tells Agnes to go sit in the time-out chair, he does not expect that Edith would try and stand up to him, and proceeds to lash out at her and question her if she's talking back to him.
  • He underestimates Edith, who is pretty tough despite being a young nine-year-old-girl, when he prepares to fight her and does not expect that she will break his pinky toe and send him into the gong stand, showing his arrogance, cockiness and extreme belief that he will beat her.
  • He is supposed to be doing his job to teach his students as a karate teacher but doesn't seem to realize that they are too scared by his harsh treatment of them to actually learn, further showing his stupid and unintelligent side.
  • Despite being a karate instructor, he is quite immature, as he takes pleasure in acting like a jerk towards the kids in his care.
