Theodore "Ted" Beneke is a supporting character in the award-winning crime drama television show Breaking Bad (2008).
He is a businessman who owns the Beneke Fabricators company and Skyler White's boss and ex-lover. Later on, he is revealed to have committed tax fraud.
He was portrayed by Christopher Cousins.
What Makes Him Pathetic?[]
- Ted, as he proves to the viewer, is not even C-Suite Official material, let alone being the CEO of a large firm, and most likely got there by nepotism, as his father founded the company.
- He was implied to have once sexually assaulted Skyler, forcing her to leave the company for the first time.
- Even after being caught by the IRS, he still refuses to pay his taxes. Although it may seem he wants to fight hard with the IRS for the sake of his employees (which seems very brave at first), but in the end it turns out he doesn't even have those intentions due to his selfishness and shortsightedness, revealing him to be stubborn and idiotic.
- He is hypocritical, as he wasn't going to pay his taxes with "illicit gambling winnings", but leases a luxury car anyway with that same money.
- He is very cowardly, as when Walt tried to confront him for having an affair with his wife, he refused come out of his office. He then fled even after Kuby offered him sandwiches and entertainment to calm him down which leads to his injury.
- While he does end in a quadriplegic state, it is not played for sympathy as he brought it all onto himself.
What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]
- He is an awful businessman:
- Obviously, just committing tax fraud was stupid on its own.
- Even though he already was a criminal, he was reluctant to take the money at first, which would have worsened his financial problems.
- Leasing the Mercedes roadster when he should be paying his taxes with that money.
- The main reason why Skyler started their affair was because she found out Walt was a drug lord and was feeling emotionally down, and if it wasn't for those factors, he would not have even succeeded.
- Even though he was not in any actual danger from Kuby and Huell (all he needed was to sign his own check and wait for it to clear out for a few days), he immediately decided to bolt for the door and ended up tripping on his own carpet, leading to him being a cripple.
