With the success of my proposal of Bruno from The Dark Knight Returns, I’ve decided to put forward another DC character I think belongs on this wiki: Sparrow Adaro from the Harley Quinn comic book series.
What’s the Work?[]
The Harley Quinn comic series has been ongoing since the 2000s, stretching over four volumes. The character featured in this proposal appears exclusively in the second volume of the Harley Quinn comics, which ran from 2014 to 2016.
Who’s the Candidate?[]
Sparrow Adaro is a major character in issues #19, #20, and #21 of Volume 2. It starts when Harley meets Ms. Adaro, a worried mother who has been stealing hospital equipment from where “Dr. Quinzel” works. Ms. Adaro reveals that she’s been selling the equipment because she’s trying to raise enough money to hire a bounty hunter to save her daughter, Sparrow, who has been kidnapped by a cult that is threatening to kill her if the mother doesn’t continue sending money to them. Hearing this, Harley offers to do it for the mother instead. However, upon finding the girl, Harley learns that Sparrow has not been kidnapped at all, that she is instead just partying with her friends, and has faked the kidnapping so that her mother would send her money that she can use to keep partying. She attempts to flee but doesn’t get far, and Harley brings her back to her mother and collects the reward money.
What Makes Her Pathetic?[]
- She fakes her kidnapping to extort money from her mother that she spends on drugs and partying.
- She is a gold digger, as she marries a wealthy screenwriter only to spend all his money and leave him once he gets into financial debt.
- While fleeing Harley’s pursuit, she hides at the gym her friend owes, ignoring the fact that she owes said friend over ten thousand dollars.
What Makes Her a Pinhead?[]
- While sending her mother letters faking her kidnapping, she leaves the return address on, making it incredibly easy for Harley to find her.
- After being shot in the foot by Harley, all Sparrow whines about is how her expensive shoes are ruined.
- She doesn’t seem to realize that her “friends” dislike her just as much as everyone else does, because she’s basically a money pit that never pays anyone back.
Final Verdict?[]
Yes. Sparrow is a selfish gold digger who is as terrible a friend as she is a daughter.
