Otis from Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer

You can tell from a mile way that this guy's up to no good.

Well everyone, I'm back with another proposal, with a fresh candidate for y'all! This guy is like a mix of Waingro and Eddie Low. Buckle up cuz we're in for a ride!

What's the work?[]

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is a 1986 slasher film which stars Michael Rooker as the title character, based on real-life serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, Tom Towles (whose death was on April 2nd, 10 years ago, RIP) as our candidate here today, and Tracy Arnold as Becky. The film follows Henry and Otis go on a killing spree for fun while living with Becky. Things got complicated later on.

Who Is He?[]

Otis is the deuteragonist of the movie. Introduced as Henry's cellmate, Otis picks up his sister Becky while taking Henry to live with him at his apartment. As they have dinner, Otis tries to kiss Becky, which gets under Henry's skin and makes him apologize. The other day, while Becky got a job at the salon, Henry and Otis go out at night and picked up two prostitutes whom Henry killed later. Otis was disturbed and confronted Henry, who shows him his life of murder and convinces to be his partner. Otis accepts it after Henry assures him that the police won't get them.

After breaking the TV out of frustration, Henry took Otis to a fence (or garage, whatever you call it) to get a new one. As they try to bargain with the owner, they got into a heated argument which resulted in the duo killing the man, while taking a nice TV and camcorder then go home. The other day, Otis sells some weed to a teenage boy and tries to force himself on him, only for the boy to punch him in the nose and runs away with the weed. He later complains to Henry that he wants to kill him, and Henry takes him on a ride to embark on a killing spree. At Lower Wacker Drive, they pretend their car got broke down and then Otis shoots the man who pulled over to help them. They both later killed a family of three, with Otis forces himself on the mother's corpse until Henry intervened. Otis also recorded it with the camcorder so he could watch it later.

The two got into an argument when their camera gets destroyed while Otis is filming female pedestrians from the window of Henry's car. Otis goes for a drink while Henry returns to the apartment. As Becky quits her job for her daughter and wants to take Henry for dinner, Otis comes to interrupt when he finds Becky trying to seduce Henry. Otis later tries to force himself on his sister while Henry goes out to buy some cigarettes. Henry comes back eventually and saves Becky from Otis, then proceeds to stab him with a comb. As Otis tries to crawl away and begs Henry for mercy, the latter stabs him to death and then dismembered his body in the bathtub.

Is He Pathetic?[]

Is he not? Compared to Henry who has some charm and also complexity, Otis is just a digusting, slimy creep. He treats his sister like trash, mocking her about the abusive marriage she had and forcefully tried to kiss her. He is also willing to do the same on a teenage boy whom he sold weed to. He is also necrophiliac as he "did" the mother of a family after he killed her. He tries to strangle and rape his own sister when he finds out she tries to have a relationship with Henry. He begs for mercy once Henry comes to save Becky and strikes back.

Definitely pathetic.

Is He a Pinhead?[]

Yeah, he's definitely a pinhead compared to Henry. His constant sexual advances towards people run the risk of leaving behind DNA evidence, and trying to rape others would leave a living witness compared to murdering them. This is something that Henry is against, albeit for pragmatic reasons. All in all, his disgusting actions would've got himself caught sooner if Henry didn't stop him.

Final verdict[]

An easy yes for me.
