This proposal will be relatively short because the character in question has less than five minutes of screen time, but I believe that they belong on this Wiki despite their brief appearance.
What’s the Work?[]
S.W.A.T. is a crime-action television series. It follows, as the name suggests, a S.W.A.T. team that hunts down a new “villain of the week” each episode, although there are the occasional season main antagonists that take full arcs to catch. Not today, though, because this proposal focuses on a character who gets arrested before the show’s theme song can even start playing.
Who’s the Candidate?[]
Carly is a minor antagonist in the episode, played by Lexi Simonsen. She’s a young (14-15 years old) petty criminal who was raised in a group home but had a history of violent behaviour, terrorizing the neighbourhood by destroying lawn chairs and various acts of vandalism. One day she breaks into a random house with her friend, before finding some guns out on the couch. With no hesitation at all, she grabs the gun and shoots the TV several times, before moving her line of sight out the window and once again opening fire. Eventually, S.W.A.T. arrives upon receiving various calls of rapid gunfire and moves in to stop Carly. By this time, she has already shot and wounded a police officer and lethal force is being considered to take Carly out, but Sergeant Daniel Harrelson (also known as Hondo) manages to distract her long enough for his team to sneak into the house through the backdoor, catch her off guard, and arrest her.
What Makes Them Pathetic?[]
Well, getting into the obvious, Carly takes the gun she finds in the house she broke into just to cause chaos and destruction, injuring an innocent police officer in the process, all for her entertainment. Plus, according to the neighbour of the house who was broken into, Carly has been a public nuisance for some time now. Also, the whole time she’s doing this, her friend is begging her to stop, but Carly doesn’t listen to him and even scoffs when he runs out the door to the safety of the S.W.A.T. team once they arrive, calling him a “chicken”. Furthermore, as S.W.A.T. arrives, she starts shooting at them too. It is absolutely psychopathic how she shows no remorse for her actions, especially when her violent behaviour has hurt several people, and all she does in response is laugh.
What Makes Them a Pinhead?[]
If shooting at the police wasn’t already a dumb thing to do, trying to open fire on a S.W.A.T. team with just an assault rifle is enough to demonstrate Carly’s incompetence. Plus, what kind of person’s first instinct upon seeing a loaded rifle on the couch is to just blindly open fire on anything in front of her? When Hondo tells her to come out of the house with her hands up, she yells back at him, daring him to come closer so she can shoot him. She doesn’t even take cover, as S.W.A.T. is easily able to line up a clean shot to kill her if necessary. As a last point of incompetence, she falls for Hondo’s distraction which is literally just talking to her about random things to confuse her so she doesn’t notice the S.W.A.T. team entering the house behind her to tackle her to the ground. She even struggles as the heavily armoured powerhouses restrain her. She is by far one of the dumbest criminals to ever appear on the show.
Possible Preventions?[]
There aren’t really any preventions that would stop Carly from qualifying. Her actions and past are all unsympathetic and pathetic, as she has no tragic story or display of empathy of any kind that would make the viewers feel sorry for her, and she demonstrates her incompetence by trying to fight against an entire S.W.A.T. team just by herself and somehow falling for Hondo’s distraction.
Final Verdict?[]
All in all, since she is absolutely Pathetic, absolutely a Pinhead, and absolutely has no Preventions of any kind, I believe Carly is a firm and easy yes, so let me know what your thoughts are. Do you think she qualifies?
