Thought I’d reuse this image to show that he’s not a sane man.
Hey guys, back with yet another spooky character to bring to the table, but this time got another reevaluation rather than a Proposal. If you all remember, my initial Removal for Eddie was rejected back in August (which even then, I feel like most of the reasonings for keeping him were fairly invalid). However, with the tragedy standards having only gotten stricter in that time and me having admittedly brushed aside Eddie’s childhood by stating it didn’t hold up in his original Removal, Eddie definitely needs to go now, especially with how horrible his childhood was and his still present agency issues.
Note: This Removal will obviously contain themes of serial killing, child murder, sexual assault, sexual abuse towards animas and other graphic violence. Additionally, any votes keeping him while using elements that downplay his sexually abusive childhood, will be immediately invalidated for obvious reasons.
What’s The Work?
GTA VI is a 2008 video game (which is considered the best instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise), which follows the criminal misadventures or Nico Bellic in Liberty City, where he must work for and face off against many criminals, while also hanging around with his cousin Roman.
Who’s The Candidate?
Eddie Low is a minor antagonist in the game. He is initially shown as an incredibly socially awkward person who can barely keep a conversation without making a comment about what animals like to sexually do to themselves. However, it soon becomes very clear, that Eddie is actually a serial killer that the police are looking for who murders and raped joggers and even children (as well as possibly animals as well),
Why Doesn’t He Count?
Simple: abusive childhood. So initially I kind of just shrugged it off and immediately jumped to moral agency being the main reason he doesn’t count (I’ll get to that very soon), but Eddie had a pretty tragic childhood, as his father sexually abused him and forced him to wear a dress, which obviously fucked with his head to put it very gently (as he suffered who knows how many hallucinations of everyone who abused him as a result and was even sent to several mental institutions as a child, which very clearly worsened his mental health issues rather than helped him). That’s without mentioning all of the bullying he suffered at school as well (obviously he didn’t help himself by sexually harassing several of his classmates, but his aforementioned health issues and his own father sexually abusing him certainly explains why he so casually did this kind of shit without really processing the harm he was causing). So yeah, his tragedy is simply far too horrific to just dismiss as not holding up because he became a serial killer and sex offender as an adult, because he very likely would have become a functioning member of society had he been raised in a loving family, got decent psychiatric help as a child and wasn’t treated like utter filth by his classmates at school.
Secondly is moral agency and yes, my opinion on this still hasn’t changed, even three months later. As simply put, the guy is utterly insane out of his mind, as he genuinely wonders if animals do sexual things to themselves like humans do, doesn’t seem to truly understand the concept of death/sexual abuse and as a result the horrifying impact of his actions. Also, while he does dump some body parts into the ocean, I still feel this is a bit too ambiguous to confirm his awareness over his actions, given his other aforementioned mental issues and seeing the police more as people who want to stop his “duty” rather than actually to arrest him (especially as Eddie also seems to genuinely believe the people he’s killed and sexually assaulted “deserved” it for being “trash” who contributed nothing to society, which further puts his awareness of his crimes into further question).
So overall, a sexually abusive childhood and having an incredibly fucked up mental state, is just too much for a Pathetic Pinhead (especially with the new tragedy standards, hence why Monty de la Cruz and Cole Jackson have been removed in the past).
Final Verdict
My opinion on Eddie’s status certainly hasn’t changed and I’m going with a Cut, but with everything I laid out and the standards update, I honestly don’t think he counts anymore. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
