ATL Badger Down

Nice going, boys! This piece of human scum got what he deserved for destroying communities and killing a little girl in cold blood.

Ever since the junkyard, you've been nothing but a fly in my ointment. (...) If I'd known you were David's brother... I'd have shoved that gas can down your throat and lit you up like a candle. But this will do.
~ Seriously, what the fuck did David do to enrage Badger so much to the point where the latter wants to kill his entire family?

Yomickayha382: What's cracking, homies? Yomickayha382 is back with a brand new proposal for yet another decent candidate who should have been proposed a long time ago because of how easy of a qualifier he is. Originally, I was going to propose Kyosuke Higuchi from Death Note this week until someone else beat me to it, so as a replacement, I will propose this absolute moron instead. By the way, this proposal is a collaboration with my good friend Star of the Universe as he adores the Walking Dead video games made by the legendary company Telltale Games, and we both think this man is a definite PP. Everyone, I'd like to introduce y'all to the sadistic, bloodthirsty and petty terrorist himself: Badger!

Star of the Universe: Hey guys, I’m back, but this time for my first collaboration Proposal on this Wiki, and I’ve gotta say it, if there was an auto approval system on this Wiki, Badger would easily be in the top 10 IMO. As soon as I learnt that my good friend Yomickay had plans to Propose Badger, I immediately wanted to help out and have a blast with him on our second overall collaboration project so far, and with my upcoming eventual Proposal for Troy from Season 2, why not start off with an even worse and easier qualifier than him? That’s all I’ve really got to say, so without further ado…

Let the discussion begin.

What's the Work?[]

Walking Dead: A New Frontier is a 2016 video game about disgraced Baseball player Javier García and his family (or what remains of his family) surviving the zombie apocalypse which is now 4 years into its current state. Javi and his family then after he steals some supplies from a junkyard, discover the existence of the villainous New Frontier, which also leads them to Javi’s long lost brother and Kate’s husband albeit a huge dickwad of both a brother and a husband; David.

Who is He?[]

Badger is the secondary antagonist of A New Frontier (specifically as the main antagonist of the first three Episodes). Despite him at first being a seemingly normal soldier just following orders from both Joan and his small army/group’s leader; Max, Badger shortly afterwards, establishes himself as a sadistic psycho, when he both murders Javi’s niece; Mariana and Conrad’s wife; Francine (even torturing the latter just for fun before murdering her in front of her husband).

Is He Pathetic?[]

  • On Joan‘s orders, Badger alongside his superior; Max and fellow soldier; Lonnie, raided and committed multiple acts of mass murder against fellow Communities, solely for their supplies, despite as David points out mass murder (inspite of his own hypocrisy) isn’t how Richmond does or should ever do things and Clint (despite being an even worse hypocrite who allowed Joan’s crimes go unpunished out of self preservation) was growing more than enough food and resources to survive. While Max was a reluctant participant (who can optionally redeem himself if Javi gives him the chance) while Lonnie is an uncaring sociopath (but still not that bad at the end of the day), while Badger is a sadist who while still in it for the sheer greed of Joan’s scheme, Badger was also in on it because of the genuine joy and pleasure he derived from hurting and murdering others.
  • Assaulted Javi alongside Max, after he knocked out Lonnie for his threatening behaviour towards him (as Javi was protecting Kate, Gabe and Mariana, who were hiding under a floorboard and Lonnie discovered that someone wasps obviously hiding under there), while having him dumped in Rufus’ van to be driven to Richmond and punished for his “crimes”.
  • Shot Mariana in the back of the head in cold blood despite her being an innocent 10 year old girl who was purely minding her own business and was even smiling at having found her Walkman mere seconds before. Granted, that while Badger (at the time) didn’t know Mariana was David’s daughter (not that he would’ve cared considering how much he hated David for no apparent reason), it obviously doesn’t change the fact that he murdered a little girl in cold blood to satisfy his own sadistic bloodlust. In the same attack, he also shot Kate in the stomach, who nearly bled out as a result.
  • Attacked Richmond alongside Max, with him taking Conrad’s girlfriend; Francine as a hostage, with him (without Max’s initial knowledge, even if he approved of Badger doing so almost immediately after he found out), with his having her finger sadistically cut off with a Bolt Cutter. Regardless of weather Javi chooses to surrender or attack, Badger still murders Francine in cold blood, and then makes his and Max’s men ram Prescott’s gates (with Walkers in the back of said truck), while also having teargas thrown at people so they had even less chance of survival.
  • A few days later when he, Max and Lonnie were stocking back up at their hidden warehouse; when talking about everything that’s transpired as well as Max calling Badger out for what he did to Mariana, Badger openly admits he has absolutely no guilt for murdering Mari, despite her having only been 10 years old and having nothing to do with Badger, even quoting “I’d do anything to see that little bitch’s head pop again”.
  • Cowardly runs off when confronted by Javi and David, until Javi chases him into an office room, in which they engage in a brutal fight, until Javi fatally shoots him in the stomach. During said fight, Badger both made multiple death threats against Javi and voiced his hate for David (using his hate for David as a reason for why he’s going to go on to murder the rest of his family ).
  • Even in his final moments, Badger puts on a pathetic “tough guy” act (even saying “Why should I care” as he’s bleeding out) and insulting Mariana’s murder to Javi’s face makes (as well as doing the same to Conrad about Francine’s murder, if Conrad is still alive by this point). Notably, if Javi chooses to murder Badger himself (with his metal baseball bat), Badger’s “tough guy” act very quickly falls apart, as after two painful and very hard hits to the side of his head, Badger puts his hand above his head, signalling for him wishing for Javi to show him mercy, which obviously isn’t granted by just about any player (even if they stop after two hits, Tripp will just finish the job off by stabbing Badger in the head with his dagger),
  • While the way that Javi murders him is both brutal and Jesus is somewhat sympathetic towards the loss of human life, Jesus is more upset at how brutal Javi was and that he thought that Javi was a good man not capable of such violence against even the most evil of people. But, the sympathy in this scene is more with Jesus than Badger (obviously), as he’s upset at both another human life being lost (regardless of who that person was as a human being in his life) and that not wanting Javi (who he considers a friend) to lose his ways and what makes him human by taking revenge on someone who severely wronged him and his family, rather than any true sympathy for Badger himself, who more than deserved to die for his vile actions.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • He’s incredibly idiotic and short sighted (due to his sadistic nature), making many stupidly sadistic decisions that hugely backfired on him and arguably Richmond as a whole, such as murdering Mariana García and shot Kate García in the stomach which led to Javi spending nearly a week solely to non-stop hunt Badger down until he successfully murdered him/or contributed to his death, completely destroying Prescott which led to its leader; Tripp to non-stop hunt Badger down alongside Javi until Badger was murdered (the ramming of Prescott’s gates was ridiculously self destructive as well due to how as Badger himself later mentions, that attack led to the deaths of most of his and Max’s soldiers, even if Badger obviously blamed everyone else aside from himself), murdering Francine in front of her longtime boyfriend Conrad which led to Conrad non-stop hunting Badger down alongside Javi and Tripp (granted Conrad makes it and Javi doesn’t murder him earlier on for taking Gabe and Clem hostage while at the underground train station or he doesn’t die mere minutes before confronting Badger when trying to help break into the warehouse). Overall, Badger idiotically belived he could torment people and murder their loved ones left and right and expect absolutely zero consequences off of them, but high requires basic common sense to know that someone will hunt you down (especially in the zombie apocalypse where you can pretty much get away with vengefully murdering someone). Even Max at one point acknowledges what an idiot Badger is, despite not being a particularly bright or thinking for himself kinda guy. Overall, the complete destruction of Richmond and The New Frontier as a whole, can be linked right back to Badger’s idiotically sadistic and needlessly cruel actions.
  • He doesn’t even attempt to hide his blatant sadistic behaviour, when he really should do, as he openly brags about murdering Mariana in a public place in front of Max and Lonnie at their warehouse (which Max for pretty obvious reasons calls Badger out on) and led to multiple people there (Javi, Tripp, Clem, David, Jesus and optionally Conrad all overhearing this confession). He’s also just unpleasant towards people (Max included) in general, showing he does an absolutely awful job at hiding his true nature and only ever gives Richmond/The New Frontier a very bad name.
  • He dies a pretty ridiculous and what can be called an easily avoidable death, as he knocks Javi to the ground, with the intention to beat him to death with a baseball bat (once again showing he places needless cruelty and idiocy above sufficiency) as well as knocking Javi to the ground right near a rifle, which results in Javi shooting Badger in the stomach with the gun (as Badger was taking too long to actually hit Javi due to unnecessary showboating) and leading to inevitable death regardless of weather Javi, Tripp or Conrad murder Badger, or simply leave him to bleed to death. Overall, he could’ve easily won the fight against Javi, but Badger allowed his stupidity, arrogance, sadism, needless cruelty and love for violence to get in the way or actually doing what he needed to do.

Potential Issues[]

Sure, he technically couldn’t have predicted that his actions would lead to Prescott and The New Frontier’s downfall (even if both happened after his death) or that David was Mariana’s father, the ball still doesn’t really go in Badger’s court, because as for Richmond/The New Frontier, Badger doesn’t give a shit about them as long as he himself both benefits from his services to them and he is given the power to indulge in his sadistic nature and hurt others, as for David and Mariana, it’s almost certainly fair to say that Badger couldn’t have cared less about the family relation between the two (especially as he hated David for no reason) and even then, it doesn’t even come close to suddenly making murdering a 10 year old girl less vile than it already is. It far from helps that he outright brags that he wishes he court murder her again just to “See her head pop”. Also, while he does call his and Max’s fallen soldiers “friends”, aside from a complete lack of screen time with them and him blatantly deflecting blame for being the cause of their deaths to villainise Javi and his family, it’s pretty clear that Badger is using their deaths as incredibly weak excuse to justify further acts of violence that he already enjoyed indulging in for the sheer pleasure and sake of it.

Overall, I don’t see any issues disqualifying him.

Final Verdict[]

Yomickayha382's Vote: When all is said and done, I'm a firm and long-awaited yes to Badger. However, y'all can decide, and by the way, Star, thanks for helping! Everyone else, have a nice day and gracias for reading! Haha!

Star of the Universe’s Vote: What is there to even say? Ridiculously Easy Yes to the zombie apocalypse version of Clarence Darby and how sadism and stupidly, certainly are a far from perfect mix, as it results in a painful yet well deserved death. Thanks again Yomickay and really enjoyed this collaboration, I look forward to the future! Thanks for reading everyone and have a great day!
