The Grim Reaper's visiting with you.
~ Waingro before killing a teenage hooker.

Waingro is the main antagonist of the epic 1995 crime thriller Heat.

He is a homicidal criminal formerly associated with Neil McCauley’s crew of bank robbers who betrays them after they try to kill him out of disgust for his actions. He is also a psychopathic serial killer and rapist who targets young prostitutes.

He was portrayed by Kevin Gage.

What Makes Him Pathetic?[]

  • He kills a guard during an armored truck heist just for looking at him funny, thus necessitating the deaths of two more guards in order to dispose of the remaining witnesses.
  • He's a serial killer and rapist of underage prostitutes.
  • He betrays his former gang to Roger van Zant, causing the deaths of Michael and Breedan during their bank robbery as well as forcing Chris to ditch town without his family. Even after Waingro's death, him selling out the gang results in Neil being forced to abandon Eady and then get killed in a firefight with Vincent in the climax as well.
  • He raped and murdered Trejo's wife Anna before beating Trejo near death. Neil kindly mercy-killed Trejo upon finding his beaten, bleeding body.
  • He's a coward who only goes after weaker people that can't fight back. He also suffers a very undignified death, crying and snotting while held at gunpoint by Neil and struggling to even look him in the eye at first.
  • Even disregarding his crimes, he's a grade-A asshole with a Swastika tattoo on his body implying that he is a neo-Nazi. Literally his very first scene in the movie shows him ordering a refilled cup of coffee (which he stole) and then leaving without waiting for his drink or even telling the employees to just forget it.

What Makes Him a Pinhead?[]

  • He is, simply put, terrible at long-term planning:
    • In hindsight, killing the three guards in the beginning of the movie not only was utterly pointless, but also risks him and the gang getting extra prison time (or maybe even death row) if they get arrested later.
    • He always left DNA evidence (i.e. semen) inside all the prostitutes he killed. If it weren't Neil's crew causing a whole bunch of racket with the cops, Waingro almost definitely would've been arrested a long time ago.
    • Had Waingro simply killed Trejo right away instead of leaving him half-dead, the former would still be alive because the latter wouldn't have been able to tell Neil who sold out the gang to Van Zant.
    • He has a "too dumb to live" death, opening the door in his hotel room so Neil can barge in and shoot him to death.
